The other day, in preparation for green month here at AT coming up in July (next week!), we stopped at Debra's to pick up our new Bokashi Composter
. She invited us into her garden to demonstrate how our new toy worked. We noticed this very tempting bowl of fresh produce and assumed she'd just come from the farmer's market. We were very surprised to learn that it had all just been picked from the French-inspired formal garden we were standing in. More on Debra's garden, and a slideshow, after the jump...
Getting a close look at her garden we discovered that, intertwined between the hedges and the flowers were fruits and vegetables! We were even more astonished to learn that she can grow enough food on her small parcel of land to feed a family of four for a year! We recently blogged using vegetables to decorate your home
but if you have a garden why not take Debra's lead and that of Edible Estates
and consider a garden that's as edible as it is decorative? For more pictures of Debra's garden, click here
for the slideshow and here
for the thumbnails. And watch for Gregory's posts next month. He and Emily have decided to try growing vegetables on their front lawn and he'll be blogging their experience while I'll be blogging my experiences with my new Bokashi composter!
