We've seen a lot of closet offices here at Apartment Therapy, but Mai from the blog A Cup of Mai wowed me yesterday with the reveal of her new work space. By removing the closet doors, giving the walls a few coats of chalkboard paint, and adding some floating shelves, she's created a clean, minimal, and cozy space that seems perfect for getting work done.
Mai has created sufficient room for her camera lenses, magazines, writing utensils and other office supplies without overcrowding the space, which is a true feat in such a small area. And by selecting furniture that was on sale and repurposing old items, she managed this makeover for under $250, which is perhaps an even greater feat. For more pictures and a breakdown of her budget, visit A Cup of Mai. (And for an added treat, keep your eyes peeled because soon she'll be revealing a makeover of the rest of the bedroom where this office is located!)

Shaw's Original Fir...
Wow! that is wicked cool. I wish I had a closet like that in my apartment... it's kind of an odd shape and has 2 doors - one leading to the bathroom and one to the bedroom. It would be an odd place to have a desk, but I am quite tempted to try now.
SO adorable. I am loving the color, which helps it look like a bigger space, and of course the typog mugs.
Love it - I am jealous!
Gorgeous! I love seeing what people can do with small spaces. I'm always so impressed with the creativity in creating storage and the illusion of there being much more space than you'd imagine.
i really like the dark paint, it warms up the space
So smart to put a desk in a closet. Looks great!
So adorable. Thank you for showing more spaces with carpet. Of course it feels like now that I have awesome hardwood floors many of my favorite tours all have carpet.
Very cute! But especially very good use of space!
Super cute but what does she do for a closet?
Good question, CDTWIST! I had to create an office for my boyfriend in one of my closets and that is about as True Love as it gets in my opinion. But it is not nearly as cute as Mai's. What a clever gal she must be! I'm going to check out her blog. Brava Mai and AT!
What an amazing makeover. Super cute.!
Didn't you guys read her post? She's turning the whole bedroom into a dressing room ;)
