The art of packing light, especially for those normally encumbered by (seemingly) required tech gear can be a real challenge, even for the shortest of trips. Patrick Rhone of the always excellent and inspiring Minimal Mac blog breaks down how to pack the necessities and how to pack it right in this three year old video. Watch it, remember it, and then practice it this holiday season if you travel...

This is great -- if you're a guy! (And, at that, a guy who doesn't mind washing his clothes every night.) I can't think of a any woman (me included!) capable of packing a single pair of underwear, even for an overnight trip. I'd rather have extras and not need them than need them and not have them, ya know?
If underwear is your concern, I'd imagine you could squeeze a few more in there. The bigger issue for women is finding professional clothes that you could wash and wear. I'm all for doing this on a casual trip, but the sartorial expectations for professional women tend to be much higher than that for men.
I'd love to see some links to clothes that would fit the bill, if anyone has suggestions!
Oh, and I think you just overloaded his server:)
You're right -- women need options. And cramming clothes into a backpack just won't cut it. Options -- and more than a single pair of underwear!
This guy is absurd. I've been on plenty of business trips with people like this and you're not fooling anyone. Not sure what kind of clients he has, but a guy who washes one pair of underwear in the sink every night is not someone I'd want to do business with.
I can easily pack for a 4 day trip with just my Saddleback Briefcase. And that includes taking enough changes of underwear, socks, etc.
Washing your clothes seems a bit excessive for such a short trip. Underwear/socks are small enough they do not take up much space. Bring an extra plastic grocery bag and a dryer sheet to keep dirty clothes in (and keep any potential smell down).
For the camera, is it really necessary to bring multiple lenses? Challenge yourself with one focal length. After traveling with a number of lenses and not using them all I would often travel with just my Canon 5D2 and Sigma 50 f1.4 lens. Now I simply pack my Fuji X100 which is great because it still gives me good image quality at a huge size/weight savings.
Regarding clothes, you simply need to bring versatile items. If I'm trying to pack light for a business trip I'll pack a grey pair of slacks and probably some khakis. Two color shirts (white, blue, or something along those lines), one belt, one pair of shoes, shoe trees, and a blazer that I'd wear on the plane. That results in 4 potential outfits taking up minimal space. Also, roll your clothes, don't fold them. They'll fit in your bag easier, will be more compact, and won't wrinkle as much.
If this guy's getting press for such a poor packing job, it makes me think I should make one of these videos!
