2 The Japanese Bed by Oliver Peake was a commission for a client who wanted a sunken bed and hidden storage. The floor was raised to make space for the storage below and to give the bed a platform.
3 Sometimes inspiration for our home comes when we are away. In this room designed by experimental Belgian designer Martin Margiela for La Maison Champs Elysees, visitors can experience the minimalist calm of pure white.

White Enamel Flatwa...
Beautiful rooms. I always wish I could have this much restraint when I decorate.
Great ideas for my new guest room :)
The Japanese Bed in the second photo is really interesting! I wonder if there is any circulation under it though. Shouldn't your mattress be able to "breathe"? I also really like the bed covering in the last photo.
Very sanitarium chic.
These look absolutely serene. I am a fan of the minimalist look. Slowly I am starting to declutter as I realize I don't really need so much "stuf".
oh, how i wish i could have white linens...
these don't seem serene to me, they seem dead.
Beautiful rooms. Thanks for the post.
These rooms are my dream, my reality is Crayola on steroids.
Sometimes I hold off on cleaning house for a bit just to get the satisfaction of seeing starker results after I finally clean. I'm a freak. A pseudo clean freak.
These are like our bedroom. Number 7 is my favorite of these. It looks so soft and cozy. The last one looks a bit too decorated, I don't like the shelf of knick knacks above the bed.
Bed #2, while it looks so cool, would be a backbreaker to make & change the sheets!
I don't know if I could sleep below the painting in number 5 - I would have nightmares.
I really like these rooms in all their simplicity - but I'm not sure how open-minded their spirit is - at last.
And I neither think of spring as a season of calmness and contemplation, nor can I find it in these rooms!? It's fresh and busy with strong colours!
I love #7, minimal but still maintains a warmth. #2 is awesome but at my age, I'd never make it out of bed!
Who are these people who can have white beds? Ah, the childless. Although even sans child, I'm pretty sure these linens would end up with my tea stains on them. Yeah, white linens aren't an aspiration for me; I live in the real world.
No children. No pets. No snacking or sipping tea in bed. No menstruation. No romantic bodily.... No color. No warmth. It's like all the life has been sucked out of these rooms. Unless one wants to count the housekeeper whose constant job it is to keep these rooms sparking clean!
I love these rooms and agree that the last one has too much with the shelf over it. I would get annoyed after a couple days and have to take that out. BTW, ockeghem and ecuadoriana1 I have a four year old son and my bedding and his are both white and we don't have a problem. We also have a predominantly cream colored rug in our living room and although we don't eat in our beds (to me that's gross, who wants crumbs in their sheets) we do snack on the sofa, drink tea, etc. etc. and I don't have a problem, or any stains for that matter. I don't obsessively clean either, but I guess it just depends on your family and the lifestyle. My family is the life of our rooms, not our stuff...
Where can I find a platform bed like in $4? I've been looking everywhere!
#2 Is awesome!
I always slept on white bedsheets and still do. My mom managed it with kids and a business and I am sure I can do it too, now I am so used to it that I can't sleep on dark bedding. It has to be light in colour.
