Q: I have moved into a new apartment on the 29th floor and I'm trying to keep it minimalist. This is the sofa I currently have, and I don't want to replace it. It is cream and black — it looks yellow here because of the lights.

I am planning to get two chairs to go with the sofa, and have Ambient Lounge's 'Butterfly' chairs in mind. Will the circular shape and fabric texture of the chairs go with the squarish, leather sofa I have?

They look too much like (college) bean bags. Find something better, more sophisticated (not necessarily more $$$). Like the sofa.
I agree that they look too much like college. What about these: http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Rialto-Black-Bonded-Leather-Chair/5749774/product.html
They don't go with Minimalist nor does the sofa. Minimalism is any design or style in which the simplest and fewest elements are used to create the maximum effect. It is reductive which means not just a reduction of the number of furniture pieces in your home but a reduction of the elements that make up that furniture.
This ground & colours aren't made for minimalism. You'd better add a nice carpet, that makes the room feel less cold. The different shades of brown show, that it's already some years old; you should work WITH it, and not against, this only sticks it out :) (So what about a carpet in these colours, like this one http://csimg.shopwahl.de/srv/DE/00000722325605/T/340x340/C/FFFFFF/url/lalee-teppich-amondo-105a.jpg)
Honestly, it's what you love and not what we think would go. I understand you're reaching out for help/suggestions, but go for it if you love it.
minimalism is often about the individual elements. each piece alone should be high style and supremely interesting. think art gallery or design show. I saw those stools at tjmax last week
yeah, the chairs look cheap and mismatched against the nice sofa and the high chairs that you have. go for chairs with cleaner lines and fabric without much texture. You can texturize with a couple of accessories (such as a rug, curtains or few throwpillows).
Definitely not, sorry. If you want to keep that sofa and still get a minimalistic feel, it should be the focal point and everything else needs to be *very* simple, sleek and monochromatic( not necessarily black and white though).
And even then I'm not sure it can be pulled off. Here's an example of a minimalistic living room done well: http://www.indoema.com/wp-content/uploads/minimalist-living-room-interior.jpg
If that's not actually your style, you need to rethink what you want.
The texture and squishyness would be a nice contrast to your sofa and high chairs but the color is wrong. They would need to be either one of the colors of your sofa/chairs or a real contrasting color.
NO WAY!
I don't like the round chairs with your sofa. It does look "college dorm" instead of sleek and modern. Nikkianz gave you a link to some chairs on Overstock and I like them very much. I think those chairs or something along those lines would be a good choice. While you want a minimalist look, I don't think you want a cold, stark room. You can keep your furnishings simple and minimal, yet still bring in an element of comfort and style with rug, pillows, art work, etc.
I don't think they'd look good together. Since the sofa has such little space between the bottom and the floor, I'd recommend chairs that have clear, defined legs. You need some breathing room on the floor.
I agree those chairs are awful. The couch is nice though,Id suggest something in leather. With marble floors you run the risk of being too cold and sterile.
Add me to the chorus of "No!" for the chairs. What you need is something that matches the scale of the sofa, in terms of seat height, back height, and so on. And since the sofa is a fairly bold piece, you want something elegantly simple for the chairs. Something with a rounded form, perhaps in black leather.
I don't like the sofa. It looks a little 90s and not in a nice way. Also the colour of the walls isn't great. If you really really want to keep the stuff I suggest you go the opposite direction as none of your pieces is minimalistic at all. Get a nice rug, cushions and dress the room to make it look as cosy as possible!
