Mintpass' Space-Themed Media Player

Mintpass' Space-Themed Media Player

This isn't the first time we've seen Mintpass' zany designs at work. But unless you're hanging with GERTY (from the movie, 'Moon'), we certainly can't imagine a more suitable place for such a spectacular, out-of-this-world media player design.

Although the more we think about it, the more we imagine how well the Mint Sputnik media player would fit right into our little cousin's outer-space themed play room.

Inspired by the similarly named Russian satellite, the media player is designed to allow complete remote control of any media from one's comfortable position on the sofa. It has a rotatable projector lamp, two integrated speakers, and comes accompanied by a one-of-a-kind controller that reminds us of the Tyco toys we had when we were little.

While the design is a bit dated (if you consider 2009 dated), we're totally diggin' the the idea of allowing kids to toggle rich digital media via tangible objects that's made for fun as well as functionality.
