In the search for reasonably-priced sconces to replace the ugly fixtures in our rental, we find ourselves drawn more and more to table and floor lamps, as they go where we need them rather than where the studs in the wall are. This design from West Elm is one we're considering.
The reflective lamp base uses the old-fashioned trick of a mirrored surface to amplify the light from a 60 watt bulb. The beveling lends an otherwise modern style a little bit of retro, Hollywood Regency glamour, and the simple, rectangular shade is a well-proportioned topper for the base.
$99 from West Elm.
