Yes, I have: http://www.katzentisch.com/2009/08/mirror-mirror-on-wall.html.
Unless you have a bathroom with a large full length mirror, and enough space to back up and be able to see yourself from head to toe, how do you avoid having a mirror in your bedroom?
I have a mirror on top of the dresser mostly for decor and then a full length one attached to the inside door of my closet.
I read that having a mirror in the bedroom is bad feng shui or something and you don't sleep as well...
So, nope I don't have one in the bedroom. If you do you should probably cover it up at night.
Sorry to sound like a loopy-loo! Try it.
As I understand it, the feng shui caveat is that the mirror should not be positioned so, upon waking, you are jarred by your own reflection, mistaking it for someone else in the room.
It's not a blanket no-mirror statement.
I have a framed mirror behind each of my bedside table lamps. They are the width of the table and about as tall as the lamp itself...it's a nice effect.

I love that look you describe! Clients are always resistant when I propose it.
My understanding is that mirrors facing the bed or mounted behind the bed/headboard facing the door are no-no's. But then again, I don't subscribe those beliefs.
I have a mirror on the ceiling over the bed. I kid. I've got a floor length leaning against the wall. Only place I can fit a floor length.
I actually hate if I visit somewhere and there's no mirror in the guest bedroom, as usually then the closest bathroom mirror is down the hall. So, yes, I have one above my own dresser and a floor-length attached to the inside of my closet door.
The FS rule is the mirror should not surprise you when you're waking up or weaken your chi while you sleep. They also say a mirror facing the bed encourages infidelity, as it literally can be another person in your bed. So, you can have a mirror in your bedroom, just make sure it doesn't reflect the actual bed.
I have a studio so yes. I have it on my entertainment center which has a light and a vase (during the summer always flowers) on it and it is angled up.
I was wondering if most people angle mirrors that aren't for ..well looking into I guess. And how much?
(I don't have any full length mirrors at all. On the occasion when I need to check full length I can stand in my kitchen and get a full length view in the bathroom mirror. It works for my needs.)
patrick,
maybe it'll be easier if you show them venetian sconces of 18th cent, to establish the historical precedent. the concept is centuries-old - and proven to be effective
Flamingo8 - well that just takes all the fun out of it.
I use to live in a shared rent house with my partner. The bedroom had a closet with sliding mirror doors that spanned the entire width of the room. Man, that was awesome. Ugly, but awesome if the moment is right. lol.
Too dumb to enter a link! Sorry! May I try again? My mirror in the bedroom: http://www.katzentisch.com/2009/08/mirror-mirror-on-wall.html
Thanks!
Yeah, FS says that you shouldn't be able to see yourself in the mirror when laying in bed because you won't sleep well knowing that your reflection is there. I have seen positive reasons for mirrors in bed rooms, such as having them reflect windows. Or if you can't see a doorway from the bed, have a mirror reflect it toward you (Because your bed position is supposed to allow you to see the door incase someone enters the room. And that's the alternative if you can position your bed in that manner). FS in so interesting to just read about, hahaha!
Frankly, this feng shit annoys me.
Yes. I think it is weird not to have a mirror in the bedroom, since I get dressed, put on makeup, and otherwise get ready in the morning there. I have an antique vanity that is a chest of drawers with a beautiful large mirror on top, I have a full length mirror to check outfits, and I have a small decorative mirror over the bed. I am considering putting something else over the bed when I get some nice art... But you can't see yourself in it from most angles and it is more for decoration.
To the haters, ponder this. How often do you see a Chinese restaurant go out of business?
I have big mirrors in every room except the kitchen. My bedroom is only 10 x 10' though, and there is NO room for anything (the closet is in a weird spot that makes only one bedroom layout with a queen bed really possible), so I just found a huge mirror from a dresser top at a thrift store, took the ugly brown wooden support off of it, and attached it directly to the wall with mirror clips.
If the mirror doesn't reflect the bed how are you supposed to see yourself when you're having sex? Oh, I guess you have to get off the bed.
@acaj08--what a great idea. I'm going to try this in my little, dark no-window, faux-loft bedroom to bounce around some more light.
Yes, but it can't be facing the bed; I've got a horrible fear of looking into mirrors in the dark (not pitch black, cheeky monkeys).
Flamingo- we have had 3 Chinese restaurants go belly up in the past 2 years. We have one take away place now. I don't believe in the Feng Shui. I don't care if others do though.
I don't have a mirror in the bedroom. Heck, I don't have a full length mirror anywhere in the house.
