Clearly, hanging multiple mirrors isn't rocket science, but there's one trick that pops up in the images here. When grouped together, the mirrors tend to look best if they are very similar — as in Image 1 — or, as in Image 2, markedly different. Especially if you opt for a pair, they'll look best if they are identical (Image 10) or opposite (Image 5).

Shaw's Original Fir...
Very interesting effect for any room. Mirrors facing each other though are considered portals for spirits and other supernatural activity. I wouldn't personally put up mirrors facing each other for this reason alone, call me crazy, but I do believe in it.
That first one would be amazing even without the mirrors.
@Dale, I never heard that interesting idea before, but can see how it grew.
My husband thinks mirrors are tacky and cheap-looking, while I like mirrors, including groups, so we compromised. All our mirrors are big, beautifully framed, and expensive, and restricted to baths, bedrooms, and the hall.
The most beautiful picture on a wall is a mirror! The most challenging part of having mirrors is keeping them meticulously clean. Instead of using regular glass cleaner fill a spray bottle with automobile windshield washer cleaner - what a difference this will make!
I need the chairs from pic 1, anybody know where they are from? They look like they could change my life...
I love mirrors and want a wall of mirrors in my apartment. I love the first picture. Thanks for posting!
I'm reminded of the Admiral's reaction on taking over the dressing room that used to belong to Anne's vain and foolish father in Jane Austen's Persuasion: "I should think he must be rather a dressy man for his time of life. Such a number of looking-glasses! oh Lord! there was no getting away from oneself. So I got Sophy to lend me a hand, and we soon shifted their quarters; and now I am quite snug, with my little shaving glass in one corner, and another great thing that I never go near."
@cremedela, that's hilarious, I need to read more Austen! I also like mirrors for their reflection of light, color, and movement.
Elaine:
If you google it, you'll see the theories on it but, of course, it's only if you believe in the supernatural though. Sound hokey, I know, but I refuse to have mirrors face one another in my place and I love mirrors too. I have them all over my place, just not across from one another.
That first picture is Agnes Emery's, I believe, and I don't remember it ever being in House Beautiful. (Her work is often featured in French magazines, Cote Sud, Elle Decor, Marie Claire Maison, etc.) Here is the website. They make the most gorgeous tiles.

Love the almost liquid look the mirrors give #1. I think the room would look quite dark without them.

Though I could be wrong; it could be someone else just inspired by her work!
Thanks, Dale Thompson, I rarely act on them, but enjoy collecting good luck-bad luck ideas to understand people better. For example, over 30 years ago a German once told me that, where she was from, it's considered bad luck to sing Christmas carols except at Christmas. I never forgot that.
I love how purple Coco Rocha's couch is....
Not for any vanity, but I'd be more likely to decorate with mirrors than artwork.
That vanity! God, I love clutter on walls. Honestly.
I'm absolutely convinced that this post was created for me. I love it more than I can say. Well done.
