When we think of color, Italy's Missoni design family comes to mind.
The brand has long been equated with vibrant color and pattern in fashion, so when their housewares line showed at ICFF in NY last spring, it was news in the design world. Missoni Home's luxurious tableware, bedding, bathware and rugs are still hard to find stateside, and they're molto expensivo.
We took a look around the web for them and found that they are slowly entering the market here, starting with big department stores. In SF you can find a small selection of their dazzling designs at Macy's (bedding) and more at Neiman Marcus (bedding, tableware, bathware, some rugs).
Our favorites include the Margherita dish line ($56 - $190) and the rugs, though the best ones are still only available in Europe.

I don't know if they still do, but ABC Home carried Missoni rugs a few years ago, we bought them there and they are indeed timeless.
Anyone making a trip to Milan, La Rinascente dept store has an entire dept devoted to Missoni Home

I found that RugsDoneRight.com carries the full line of Missoni rugs. Their prices are the best around, and the shipping is free. I bought the Fleury Rug, and am thinking about the Harlem for another room. I recommend this site to all of my clients. Good luck!
