1. This image of designer Meredith Herron's home shows that if you limit your palette to a couple of vibrant hues played off of a neutral background, a playful mix of prints looks cohesive while effectively moving your eye around the space.

Shaw's Original Fir...
I'm really feeling the Style at Home pic. Where can I find those awesome curtains?
I agree with Tobyacts. I scrolled to the description hoping for a link for those curtains!
Repetition of your color palette is key. I put some tips on my blog as well: http://hammer-and-heels.com/2012/04/25/167/
Not to be nitpicky, but you've spelled Meredith Heron's name incorrectly. I expect better of Apartment Therapy, especially given it's spelled correctly in the Style at Home link you've provided.
Love the insipiration. I'll take all I can get in this dept.
But gotta say...that first pic gives me a headache.
AMYGOOG: See the feature here from 08.07.12 Alysha Findley--I think that is pattern mixing done wrong; it is offensive.
This feature is beautiful! Great examples of how to mix patterns.
Convenient to find them on the same day! (I prefer modern decor, but how can one not want to live in this "jewel box?")
See, I much prefer the room referred to by @Ronsmom, to this one. The room on this post feels way too busy - too much going on in a small space, plus the fussy details on the legs of the stools etc. Just not my style.
Just goes to show; different strokes, and all that.
