Mixing Patterns Successfully

Mixing patterns is one of those things that you're either naturally good at or you're not. There are many things we love about this nursery we spotted at Decor8, but our favorite feature is the effortless mixing of patterns throughout.

The fact that the room is incredibly light and bright doesn't hurt. White walls, white floors and white furniture make for a clean backdrop. Despite the fact that you've got stripes, big florals, small florals, and a bird pattern on the bed, it's not too busy for the eye. The key is staying within a range of colors. Here, the main colors are pink, yellow, baby blue and a bit of red. The wallpaper with large floral pattern is referenced again in the smaller floral pattern papering the armoire, both in baby blue. The pink and yellow printed sheets are echoed in the striped rug. The large floral floor pillow takes from all of the colors in the room. Anyone else have suggestions for how to successfully mix patterns in a room?
