On a recent trip out of town with a friend, we both knew we needed almost constant access to our respective email inboxes. It was no problem for me; I always bring my Blackberry everywhere I go. But for my smart-phone-less friend, he had to lug around his laptop all weekend hoping to catch some wi-fi in an unexpected spot. I wish I would have found out about this email-to-text forwarder just a bit sooner for his shoulder's sake...
Amika Mobile provides easy-to-use push email to a any device able to receive standard text messages (i.e. not just Palm, Blackberry and iPhone).
You can also set Amika Mobile to "read" your emails and decide which are the important ones that need to get through—although we can see how letting a 'bot decide which emails you need to read could potentially go wrong.
It's a great solution that lets anybody have a 'Blackberry,' even if they only need it for just the weekend. Just make sure to let your co-workers know you'll be reading their correspondence via SMS text and not to go over 200 words.

Many non-Blackberry phones and non-smart-phones can do email. For instance, there is a utility built into the Motorola Razr (you may have to hack your Razr to make the utility available) that does email just fine. Or you can download an app that will work with your particular cell model. I recommend Googling for anything available to see what's out there.
