Are you the type that dreams in Galaga? Do you hum the Street Fighter theme song while you walk to work? Do you wish lightswitches were a little more fun to use? If you've answered yes to any combination of the above, then we suggest conceding to that inner gamer and giving these modded arcade button lightswitches a shot.
From Aleph's Etsy Design Shop, you can pick up one of these custom-made lightswitch push buttons - the same kind you would find on real arcade machines.
We imagine this little hacked piece would be perfect for the kiddies or your ever-so-classy game room. Or, if you've already decked out your entire house in Space Invader vinyls, then maybe all of your rooms deserve this proper treatment.
A single plate goes for $30, which we find a bit steep considering it's just a plate custom cut with glued on replacement arcade buttons. Perhaps one of our talented readers may wish to give this a shot as a weekend DIY?

The Etsy page is a bit lean on details of exactly how it works... They give electrical specs, though, so there's certainly some sort of switch included... A photo of the back of one of these would be fantastic.
@Kevin - I'm right there with you too. I would like to know that this thing is safe. But I do love the look.
I could do a DIY of something like this. I might have to give it a shot . . . after I get some arcade buttons.
Not sure how it works, but its not so simple as just a button. Remember, arcade buttons are just momentary buttons like a door bell, not on-off switches like a light switch, plus i'm not sure if they're high voltage(120V) or low(12V). There actually is likely a lot of work to make this work, either mechanical so it works like old fashioned push button switches, or electronic work.
my guess is they are using something like this

with some push buttons cut into the plate.
@precision80 Very nice find!
