It's not often that you see a modern barn — this petting zoo in the Netherlands was built upon the foundation of a barn that burnt down. Located in a public park in Almere, the new petting zoo barn was designed by 70F Architecture...
The building houses sheep, storage rooms, offices and restrooms. The horizontal slats are open for maximum ventilation. There are no "doors" — the entrances and exits for both people and animals are 6 large shutters that have the ability to open and close automatically (timed with sunrise and sunset) and animals are welcome to stay outdoors overnight if they desire!
You can see more projects from 70F Architecture on their site. For more images (including architectural drawings and plans) of the Sheep Stable, visit ArchDaily | Petting Farm / 70F Architecture.
