When I lived in the Midwest, I couldn't wait for the winter snow to melt so the birds would migrate back and the noise of the city was replaced with their chirping. It is so relaxing to peer out the window and watch birds hop around on the deck or feed on the bird feeder. The bird feeders I grew up with were pretty traditional, so I love seeing the modern twist on a classic feeder.

I love these, especially the first one!
Sure these feeders are cute but any feeder where the birds can poop on their food is very unhealthy for our avian friends.
Most fun ever? Hanging a squirrel-proof bird feeder and watching the squirrels try to tackle it. They will not give up, and look ridiculous trying to figure it out: http://www.amazon.com/Brome-1024-Squirrel-Buster-Cardinal/dp/B0007LQ3RQ/ref=pd_sim_ol_3
Adore all of these!
But can any of them defeat the squirrels that inevitably steal all of the bird food?
I have the first one. Unfortunately the birds do not actually use it. Water tends to collect in the bottom tray when it rains (and I'm in Seattle). Then the seeds get all mildewy. Too bad, it looks so pretty outside our window! Luckily, I did not pay full price for it- got it at a rummage sale for I think $10!
Lovely feeders! It is nice to be reminded that spring has sprung when we hear birds chirping, but keep in mind that bird feeders are most important in the fall and winter, when populations are moving to wintering grounds. Depending on your locale, February can be the best time to support local bird life with a pretty feeder! Check out stats for your area, and choose bird seed (or suet or nectar) accordingly.
I have this Smith & Hawken by Target bird feeder and I love it:

(could also be used to hold air plants, as in this month's issue of Rue Mag)
Put a bird on it.
A lot of these are very attractive looking, but who is really going to pay more than 200$ for a feeder?
EricaJ--Now you know why it was at the rummage sale! ;-)
They are different, but the price is outragous!
