Finnish-American architect and designer Eero Saarinen contributed much to our design lexicon, though he is perhaps best remembered for one item in particular: the Pedestal, or Tulip, table. An undeniable classic, this simple, sweeping table looks as good today as it did in 1956.
Designed for Knoll, the collection also includes armchairs, stools, and coffee and side tables, though it's the minimal, slightly space-age dining table which has stolen our collective hearts. Available in two shapes, five surfaces and several sizes, there's a Tulip for everyone (provided you can stomach the price).
Thanks to a resurgence in interest in mid-century design, the table's popularity has exploded in recent years, and these days it's difficult to open a magazine or blog without seeing one. But this is one classic that I, for one, will never tire of — not least because of the Tulip's peerless ability to meld with so many different decor styles.

Nomade Express Slee...
is this "Apartment Therapy - Caitlin's Small, Stylish San Francisco Home" really a Tulip? looks like the top of the shaft doesn't flare right to me...
I agree with DALI137, that table looks to me like a regular old restaurant type table or something that she painted white. Useful thing to keep in mind for those of us who don't want to spend the money on the real deal.
This is one iconic design I've grown weary of seeing. Everywhere.
@DALI137 - It looks like that table's this Odyssey one by CB2:

i'm not a huge fan of these. i like the third one, mostly for the chairs. i super hate the one with the wooden chairs - #6. it's just not my style, i think. i'm all for a bistro setting, but this doesn't cut it for me. i like my wooden dining table that seats 4-6 that i found, sanded, and restained ebony.
Never been a fan, find them distasteful, truth be told but that's just me. That said, what dif does it make if it's *really* a Tulip if the owner enjoys it? Real or not, Caitlin's table is adorable paired with those chairs.(and this from someone who doesn't care for the tables to begin with). Well done.
