Thanksgiving is over and it's officially December, which means it's time for the holiday decorations to go up. Whether you're decorating inside or outside, it's important to express yourself in the decorations you choose. If you're a modernist with holiday cheer, you'll be looking for decorations that are a little less traditional than most.
Maybe your modern decorations will be as simple as faux reindeer antlers to hang your guests coats or maybe you'll build a mid-century modern gingerbread house. The sky is the limit and it's up to your personality and imagination!
Here are some of our favorite modern holiday decorations and ideas:
• Canadian House and Home
• 3 Modern Holiday Decorations at Rockett St. George
• Modern Gingerbread House
• David Stark for West Elm
• CB2 Angel Tree
What kind of modern holiday decorations do you use?

Commercial Flour Sa...
Number 1 is great! I need an old scooter.
Pretty, but far from practical.
Those ribbons are rediculous. The four people at the corners are going to be talking through them all through dinner. I'd be so irritated if I was at a dinner party with something like that in my face. (Nevermind the potential for them getting dragged through food).
The homeowners in the first pic clearly do not have cats. :)
All the pictures but the fourth just look horrible.
The ribbons actually freak me out... it looks like the chandeliers are standing on the table.
I actually kind of like the ribbon idea. If the length in the photo is too long, it can always be adjusted. And if the concept of ribbon hanging down a chandelier is too much to grasp, how about adding ornaments to the ends (similar to past posts from this week about finding creative spaces to hang ornaments).
Check out the cool, modern white wreath I made, for next to nothing, no less. :D
