Since I’m not really into stuffed animals as décor (no judgment!), one of these modern moose heads in wood, cardboard or lacquer is a better fit for me than the real thing.
1. Ok, so you know something’s out of your budget when the price is listed as “inquire with gallery,” but Dutch artist Marcel Wanders One Minute Moose Head is my dream moose. Available to those with bigger moose budgets than mine at Mitterand + Cramer Fine Art.
2. This cardboard moose made from recycled paper by West Elm is definitely in my price range at just $28!
3. A luxe looking white lacquer moose head like this one from ZGallerie would be fantastic against a bold wallpaper. At $199.95, it would be a glamorous splurge.
4. This gorgeous specimen from Roost is hand-carved from solid basswood! Its $900, but craftsmanship like this doesn’t come cheap.
5. Vlamsch’s abstract Moose Head comes in black, white, or natural. At $750, it’s an investment in modernism.
What do you think, is a moose head in your future? Do you have one already? Where do you stand on the real vs. faux debate?

The gold one is neat but it also kind of makes me think of something religious like a christ pose/angel.
Good luck on your moose "hunt".Something about the sound of 'I could really use a moose head... " had me giggling.
Maybe the gold one is made out of SOLID GOLD.
(Just kidding.)
Too trendy. In fact, it's already over. Especially the cardboard one.
It looks like a Fallopian tube/uterus model in the doctors office.
Nope. Still ugly.
I have a satin stuffed one from the 70's, but it's packed away should my taste in design ever take a turn back that way.
I go to sleep every night under my moose's head - called Marty. It's good to sleep under a moose!
So good to see this post! Individualism is the word for all the negative comments
the West Elm moose head is actually from this site http://www.cardboardsafari.com/shop/index.php
I own one of the med size deer heads. I love it! They have some really rad stuff on there, for sure worth checking out!

@paulfisher, thanks for the link, you are right, they have great stuff. i love the mounted fish!
We have the basswood moose and absolutely love it. We bought him from a store called Area 51 in Seattle and named him David (after one of the employees - the buying experience was a story in itself).
There's an odd-shaped brick feature above our fireplace that we had no idea what to do with, and the moose fit inside perfectly:
