This week I have been spending too much money on unnecessary luxuries (I blame the holiday sales). It is time to put myself back on a budget and made me think that adults should go back to using piggy banks. There are a handful of "piggy" banks that are modern and decorative and blend in with the rest of the decor.
My favorite bank is the doggy bank - I always did love balloon animals! It is so fun for a bedroom accessory and would definitely bring a smile to my face every time I see it (and remind me to fill it with extra change).

- Doggy Bank: Animi Causa Boutique $89
- Bright White Egg Bank: J Schatz $115
- Harry Allen's Pig Bank: A+R $198

- My Car Savings Bank: SFMoma Museum Store $58

Nomade Express Slee...
so you're suggesting a 200.00 cutesy piggy bank to help you save some money..
get real.
That most expensive one weirds me out a little - I think it's just a touch too realistic. Love the "nest egg," though!
I have this one and it is adorable. Not too pricey, either, and a good way to collect errant change.
I second jweaver 512's comment.
I have an old Mason jar w/ a slot cut in the lid.
Liberty of London has a really nice collection of ceramic money boxes of unusual animals (badgers, sheep, mallard, guinea pig etc.) and at only 18£ or so they are a good deal - and they ship!

I love the dog!
We have this in our office: http://motiffurniture.com/Modern-Contemporary-Vases-and-Bowls.html?itemid=8309 and it's still my fav.
That dog is very similar to Jeff Koon's Balloon Dog sculptures. He may not like that, given that he's suing anyone who makes objects that look like balloon dogs:

I love that balloon dog so much! Must have it.
I've always liked the Harry Alllen bank as an art object, not necessarily as being particularly helpful to save money. It's less expensive in other finishes tho'.
Would love the doggy bank if it were licensed Koons, but do love the Harry Allen pig, especially in the chrome finishes.

I'm not big on accessories or tchochkes, but think this would be a great object one of my kids could keep, well, forever.
That one "might be a little too realistic" because it is. "Harry Allen obtained a suckling pig that had died of natural causes, and instead of roasting it, he cast it in resin and created this piggy bank. He’s such an animal fan that he donates $10 of every pig bank sale to the Humane Society."
My piggy bank cost me 2 dollars.... works just fine (i drew a tattoo like design with a sharpie, looks great in my opinion) . Before that i had a coca-cola bottle, i just cut a slot on the side with a knife.
Canadians: If you like the look of the nest egg, but you still need to afford to fill it with change, Chapters and Indigo locations that have that section of baby toys and children's decor have a similar one for much less!
