Purple and gold are a pair with a lot of history. Purple was the exclusive color of royalty, and gold detailing and accessories were a true display of wealth. A warm reddish plum or a deep aubergine are bold statements, yet I'm loving the fresh twist of an airy lilac or lavender paired with gilt accents. It's a modern twist that can work in any home, nobility or not.
Here are some of my favorite pairings of lilac and gold from around the web:
1. The Lenoxx via Curbly
2. House Beautiful
3. Elle Decor
4. From the Desk of Lola
5. Drake Design Associates
Do you pair purple and gold in your home?

To me, purples and gold look better when combined with red, like in photo #4.
I like the second picture a lot. I'm always afraid to use bold colors in hallways, because of the chance they might look dark and cramped, but this picture proves me wrong.
I believe purple is warm color (?), but in the first photo the silvers and white give the room a cool feeling. Gorgeous!
Out of the ones pictured, the first photo is the only execution that I like.
I really only see purple and gold in the last photo. The purples and silvers look nice though. Not my taste, but ok.
Pale purple is just about my least favourite colour of 'em all! It's to "colour" what greige is to "neutral". And, looking at the pics, I can't say it gets any better when it's paired with gold - although, this may have more to do with the decor style than the actual colour combination. But to each his own... I like the room in pic#4; it has a fun vibe to it.
I love shades of purple and have a lavender room, but I can't seem to find many things in shades of purple to go with the room anymore. These photos gave me some ideas!
Wow! I really like all of these rooms!
Not convinced. I like plums and aubergines, but pale purple still looks to precious to me.
I like most of them but honestly, photo number 1 made me catch my breath. Talk about elegant!
purple is absolutely amazing and I am particularly in LOVE with deep, rich-toned purples! In fact, I am working to B. inject purple into our master bedroom and have considered B. repainting our dining room accent wall to an eggplant-toned purple!
Sigh. I wish I had taken pictures of my hallway in my last apartment -- it was deep purple and gorgeous, with gold accents -- but alas, it remains only in my memory.
Photo 4. Nice. The others are too monochromatic for me. I wonder what all that reflected purple does to skin tones? Looks sickly to me without humans to check against.
Purples are a kind of "neutral" in that they really do go with just about anything.
As do greens.
