When it comes to drooling over gorgeous outdoor spaces, we need no excuse to post photos of ones that catch our attention. Though this outdoor space's beauty leans heavily on the gorgeous backyard full of big trees and some pretty stunning architecture, we think it contains some lessons we can all use.
We didn't include nearly enough photos from Nana's Warm and Modern Family Home tour last week, but especially of her family's modern and simple backyard. Full of beautiful oak trees, it's the fact that the outdoor area isn't filled to the brim with accessories that appeals to the modernist in us. One of the most important things we learned was something that happened to Nana and her family: they originally had the dining table under the covered area, but never used it. As soon as they brought a seating arrangement in, they were able to relax in a way that fit their personalities. The lesson being, of course, is that you should outfit your outdoor area to fit how you'll actually use it.
We also love that with the sparse, nature-colored furnishings, the beauty of the backyard and the architecture is able to stand out more. If you're lucky to have great architecture or be surrounded by a lot of natural beauty, this backyard could be inspiration that less is more. And of course, knowing your time and skill limitations to what you can take care of when it comes to plant life is always a good thing to know, too.
Have you been finding inspiration from more modern, streamlined outdoor areas lately, or more eclectic, bohemian-inspired ones? Does your outdoor area tend to be more sparse or full? What lessons have you learned from your favorite inspiring outdoor areas? Let us know!
