We spotted these futuristic aquariums while shopping at the 2nd Street District's Lofty Dog store and thought they were perfect for homeowners looking for the therapeutic benefits of pet fish without the look of a doctor's office fish tank. While not a brand new product, we think they deserve another look for Apartment Therapy's pet month...
Known as the BiOrb, SpyOrb and BiUbe, these funky fish tanks have a sleek and modern look to complement any modern home. Made of strong acryllic with silver coated lids and bases, these fish tanks are also available with a variety of lighting options, such as halogen and LED. We love the shapes and sizes these aquariums are available in and because they come with flitration systems they are nice and healthy for our watery friends.

the shape makes them kind of a pain to clean, and the undergravel filter isn't particularly efficient. no way could you keep goldfish in a tank this small, but they're all right for a betta or a few (male) guppies - just keep it in a warm place!
i'll add, though, that they look really good when well-maintained.
Goldfish create an amazing amount of waste and need approx. 20 gallons per fish. These are wildly inappropriate for the fish shown in then. Would you keep a great dane in a crate designed for a poodle?
I can't support a company who advertises their products in a way that misleads about their use.
Owning the BiUbe for a year now and still grumbling evertime I have to clean the tank. Maybe a minamilist approach with no gravel in the tank would be better that the included gravel. Although the design is a plus I rate it a " B -" overall.

I also agree about the look when well-mantained.
We have the BiUbe with goldfish and live plants. It has been the healthiest aquarium we've had despite it's small size. I change the water and the filter a little more often than the instructions say I can get away with, just because goldfish are really messy. Overall it's been a great tank, and it's fantastic to look at.

Well, you don't have to have fish. I have a small bowl with only water plants ... it's lovely.
I did something similar by using a large hurricane candle holder from crate and barrel. it works nicely. and the fish love it too!
