Modwalls (formerly Mosaic Tile Market) is a Scotts Valley-based company that is strictly online, but their wall and floor tile products are colorful, stylish, and economical.
Modwalls sells glass, ceramic/porcelain, and metal tiles, as well as eco-friendly options like cork, natural pebble mosaics and recycled glass pebbles. The 30+ glass tile blends are inspired by modern architecture and design. As they say on the website: "Our mission is to provide both our retail and trade customers a modern and colorful alternative to what is available in most tile and hardware stores, as well as a very personal online buying experience."
They're a little hip, a little retro. You can also order samples to try out before you make a big commitment.

I bought high-end brushed stainless 2x2 mosiac tiles -- enough for an oversize shower -- at a good price on eBay. Still, it was an expensive deal.
The tiles are actually ceramic with metal formed over each one -- very heavy. They looked fab installed but it didn't take long to realize how difficult it was to keep them spotless, even wiping them down post-shower before I even dried myself. Everyday they looked a little shabbier.
Fast forward a couple of months -- ripped them out. I can't bear to add up what the whole thing cost me and just consider it one of my more stunning errors in judgment.
In case you're thinking about metal tiles, keep my woeful tale in mind. Either that, or enjoy them but take your showers at the gym.
