Just twenty minutes east of Seattle with a hop, skip and a jump over Lake Washington you will find yourself in the middle of a garden wonderland. Molbak's, a family owned garden and home store in Woodinville has brought their passion for gardening to the Puget Sound area since 1956.
If you're looking for quality plants grown with love you are in the right place. Molbak's has the largest selection of indoor plants in the Pacific Northwest, and most of them are grown on their 40-acre farm just down the road from the shop. Strolling around I found some really interesting products that I hadn't seen before. One was woollypockets, a soft sided, modular pocket made of 100% recycled material that allows you to create living walls and vertical gardens. This will definitely be making an appearance in my home in the near future.
The garden hosts a myriad of indoor and outdoor plants, flowers, and trees as well as every garden supply you can imagine. As you walk around listening to the water fountains, smelling the beautiful flowers and gathering inspiration from their creative displays it's easy to get swept away into all your gardening fantasies.
They also have indoor home items such as candles, aprons, cooking books and much more. Molbak's is a place of sharing knowledge; they have weekend seminars, book signings and classes for the public. For all you Seattlites that don't mind crossing a floating bridge every now and then, it is definitely worth making the trip to Molbak's. You can even grab a coffee and a bite to eat in their garden cafe before heading back to the westside. I promise, you won't be disappointed.

Molbaks is a dream. Been there. Loved it.
Love the Seattle Posts. Keep them coming! Are we getting our own section soon?
Shadae - I was JUST gonna suggest that. There's been so many, PNW is a hub on it's own. And, as a Bay Area-n, my emotions get played with when I see an SF post that's actually from the PNW.
I WANT MOLBAKS!
I know, I'm seeing a ton more Seattle posts lately. And yeah, I mean, I also get annoyed when PNW sales are listed in the SF/Bay Area section of sales roundup posts, because I wouldn't normally think to check there. Seattle and Portland are SUCH designey places! Give us sections, give us sections! Hell, I'll feed you leads all the time. :)
Aaaanyway yes <3 Molbak's even though it is crazy pricey -- their selection beats every other nursery though.
Hello - We recently added 5 new Seattle-based bloggers to the team so that is why you are all seeing (and enjoying) more posts covering that part of the world.
We are working on lots of behind the scenes structural stuff on the site, so for now, these bloggers will continue to post on the SF site and on Main, but we plan to be able to feature local content more clearly in the near future.
YAY Janel! YAY PNW!
This is so great to hear! :)
Actually as far as nurseries go Molbaks is much pricier than others. Just a bit farther down the road than Molbaks is Flower World in Maltby. Better selection and better prices.
I'm with teawithsteph....I love going to Molbaks but will drive a little farther to Maltby and spend my time and money at Flower World. Love the Seattle posts!
I've been to Molbak's and I wasn't impressed... then again I always go to FURNEY'S in Burien. it's much closer for us who live in South Seattle, and although it's not as cheap as Carpenitos in Kent, it is cheaper than Molbak's and has a MUCH better selection. Plus, the people are super helpful! If you're looking for actual GARDEN plants, go to Furney's!
