If you like all the modern wares at the MoMA shop, this is a heads up that for this weekend, you get an extra 20% off purchases - if you're a member.
That means that the really nice Jasper Morrison Flatware that is usually $42 for a 5 piece set is only $27. And even though the membership costs $75, you could easily get ahead if you're buying a lot. AND you'd be a member. Which means that you wouldn't have to pay a ridiculous $20 each time you want to go see the awesome collection.

MOMA membership is definately worth it. It covers entry into PS 1 Warm Up (and the short line to get in)and great movies (the recent Isabelle Huppert retrospective at MOMA). Best investment this year!
MOMA is doing a Maysles retrospective in December!
Grey Gardens, anyone?
"Behind the walls of a once-grand East Hampton home, we meet Edith Bouvier Beale and her daughter, “Little Edie.” Truly living in a world of their own making, this eccentric mother and daughter hold on to a genteel way of life now long gone. 94 min. 1976.

"I thought this was the appropriate costume for the day; mother thought I should wear a kimono. We had an awful fight."
"What a nice boy! He always compliments me on the way I make my corn."
While the membership is worth getting if you go to MoMA more than four times during the year, it is not worth it just for the discount at the store. Most everything in that store are either horribly overpriced, completely useless or both. Everytime I go in there I'm hoping there will be some deal on something or something worthwhile but I always seem to walk away disappointed and angry at MoMA for trying to rip me off.
I'm just curious about the math--$42-$8=$34, not $27 right? Maybe I'm missing something? Well, either way, I'm not a member and don't live in NY so I doubt it would be worth it for me.
Christine,
thats the retail - members usual discount - the 20% discount = which i think is correct....
O Maxwell I WISH!
I'm pretty sure the formula is
Retail - 20%, not 20% off the member price
although of course I like Mmath better
(members usually get 10% off)
I totally reccommend the membership again because all their movies are free, there are special member only exhibit viewings and events, and you can just go into MoMA for your lunch break, anytime, to refresh yourself in their great spaces. As a member you also get discounts on magazines and in stores all over NYC.
