Faye's original Department Store on Honolulu
Wasn't it just last month that we were extolling the virtues of Montrose? Yes, it's a little-known town north of downtown that still has an air of the past that we happened to grow up near. Well we aren't the only ones to appreciate it, Sunset Magazine did a whole feature...
on taking a day trip up to Montrose. You can see what they have to say about it here. We love Montrose for it's stroll-ability, small town charm and friendly people. But more and more there are great restaurants (even sushi!) a farmers market and a great scrapbooking store. It's also just down the street from Descanso Gardens if you really want to make a day out of it!
Have you guys checked it out?

i love montrose! they have cute sidewalk cafes and a 4 lane bowling alley that is always hosting a private party (so ive never gotten to go inside)...
My eye doctor was up the street, so after I would have the eye exam, the person who drove and I would go have lunch there. Also I went with my parents to Descanso last spring, and we went to Montrose for lunch. It's about 1.25 hrs away from me now, but it's worth making a trip when you are headed that way anyway. (Now I go to Ojai for a quick change of scenery--now you can see the snow on the mountains from my place, but it's a lot closer when in Ojai.)
I so miss living in La Canada! Montrose was a great place to just browse on a sunny weekend day. It grew a lot from when I first lived there so many years ago. It's really cool Sunset featured it.
