They're not just for the holidays anymore. String lighting is a fast, easy and inexpensive way to add a soft (and yes, festive) glow to the living room, bedroom or anywhere else in the home. When tossed casually over a frame or hung in a messy loop from a hook, string lights are very "Look how chic I am without even trying." Which is what we're all after, isn't it?
While stores are filled with strings of lights for holiday decorating, this is also a perfect time to pick up an extra set or two of classic white lights to keep out year-round (or just wait until after the holidays when they're marked down).

Some inspiration from other beautiful spaces will help get the look off the ground. Here are some of my favorite vignettes of string lights as indoor lighting:
- String lights offer mood lighting and task lighting for mixing drinks next to Hanna's Place's bar cart.
- Ambient light next to the sofa comes from globe lights in Regine's living room, on her blog Regines Kreativiteter.
- A Grant Park, Atlanta, home renovation by Renewal Design Build includes a ceiling of string lighting in the office loft.
- String lights casually draped among leaning artwork in the studio of Weekday Carnival.
