Some people want their bedrooms to be light, bright spaces — others not so much. I can't help being drawn to these beautiful dark bedrooms. They feel like cozy, warm cocoons for sleeping in — and what could be better than that?
An inky black bedroom from Design Sponge. I like how the white bed in the middle of the room almost glows. It says, "sleep in me. Stay here forever."

Dark doesn't have to mean black. Try a deep, rich navy. Image from Elle Decor.
Black and gold is always a good idea. And bonus points for painting the ceiling, too. From Jeremiah Brent.
Dark walls and cozy layers from Rue Magazine.
More navy, this time with a wall of trompe l'oeil books. From House Beautiful.
And finally, one last dark bedroom that might seem a wee bit familiar... because it's the same as the one pictured up top. This moody bedroom is from the home of British designer Abigail Ahern. A few years after this photo was taken, our own Rebecca Bond shot Abigail's home for an Apartment Therapy house tour, which included the photo you see at the top of the page. Isn't it fun to see how spaces evolve?
