Moody & Dramatic Home Theater Lighting

Not only do we love watching dramas and thrillers on our little big screen at home, but adding drama to the home theater decor is a fun side hobby as well. An easy fix? Try throwing up a dark media wall backdrop and lace the ceiling with some extra moody overhead lighting.

Much like Gregory's Black Hole Home Office, the contrast of bright lights against a dark palette is a stylistic investment that stems away from much of the bright and cheery palettes we usually see in Scandinavian and contemporary designs.

However, when done right, a new level of sophistication can be achieved - and even more so if you play around with the way you approach the darker tones. Using putty, embossed patterns, and chalk paint, all of these can create a bold and mature layer of texture to your home without feeling like a cheap "hotel" overhaul.

When paired with white furniture or glossy technology pieces, the stark lighting and contrast really achieve the level of drama only Unplggd'ers will appreciate.

Love the space? Too much angst in one place? Let us know what you think!
