In the heart of Billburg, Moon River Chattel is a local haunt. 12 years old, Moon River is an antique and home store that will charm your senses with it's vintage chic. And for those who have whole brownstones to do, they also do architectural salvage, plumbing fixtures and hardware.
Amy says: They've got all kinds of nice stuff -- antiques, glass containers, all kinds of handwoven linens, planting things, kitchen things, great hardware, old glass door knobs, cool old ceiling lamps, good shades too.
And across the street is a sort of salvage place. They repair furniture, and rewire old lamps. and you can source very old wood there too. There's great old porch furniture... and new porch furniture outside... letterpress business card. penny candy at the check out.
I just picked up some big beautiful red ticking/natural linen pillows (shown, $40 each) and a great hand-forged pot rack ($45) (Thanks, Amy!)

This place is fabulous. Make sure to check out the salvage across the street!
i love love love this store. i've been a frequent customer for several years now, and actually just purchased a sofa from their store. its perfect. and the people who work there are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.
i love this store! not my usual taste altogether, but i just love it!
It's right around the corner from the animal shelter where I do volunteer work. I walk dogs past there a lot and always wanted to check it out. Now I'm going to have to go in and look around.
I would strongly urge people to steer clear of this place... On two seperate occasions while shopping here I witnessed the owner berate and belittle her employees (a different employee each time). Both times the woman was totally out of line. The second time, I approached the employee and asked if the woman was the owner and when I was told she was I said I was going to say something to her. The man begged me not to, for fear of retribution.!. WOW! The arrogance that this woman displayed was staggering. I began asking my friends around the neighborhood if they had ever been to M.R.C. and many of them had also witnessed this womans tirades. DON'T SUPPORT NASTY EMPLOYERS!!! Cute store, nice stuff, but I would shop around...
