Last year, we posted about some DIY headboard ideas we found at the Better Home & Garden's site. We actually made ours with some plain closet doors. Since it's bedroom month, we rounded up a few more ideas...
CasaSugar.com provided this one we blogged about earlier this month, using a curtain to give the illusion of a headboard.
...Which also reminds us of this one that ATLA reader Payzlee made using a simple stretched tapestry.
Over at HGTV.com, they recently had a post that listed 29 DIY and inspirations for headboards as well. Check out their picks here. Do you have a headboard like any of these? Have you made your own headboard lately? Let us know what you did! or better yet- show us! send us picks or tag your flickr photos with "apartmenttherapyla" or join our flickr group!

i'm not at all a fan of headboards that aren't actually headboards (i.e., mounted to the bed), but the large dark wood is very masculine, dramatic and totally rocks!
Thin bamboo shades might look nice hung behind a bed. I considered this when I discovered mine were see-through.
I'm not generally a fan of headboards, or footboards either. I just don't want to worry about hitting my head or foot on anything. Recently, however, I made a headboard for my bed. I had a free standing headboard, and three comforters in my pattern because I can't stop buying them on Ebay. I folded and wrapped and folded and wrapped and folded and wrapped, and now I have a great looking headboard that is soft soft soft. I am shocked about how good it looks, and feels. And I had everything on hand. I am thrilled. I don't have to store the headboard or the comforters anymore. Color me happy.
Team Decor: Is there any hope of a photo of your creation? It sounds wonderfully comfortable.
I made a padded, tufted headboard. I "faux" tufted it with staples and hot glue, per instructions by Christopher Lowell. Those have now popped off, and I want new fabric, so I'm going to be redoing it. I'm debating whether to sturdy it up with some 2x4s and using those to attach to the bed frame...as of now, it's a huge sheet of (I think) 1/4" plywood with batting and fabric, just leaning up between the bed and the wall.
I second the photo request. A headboard created with quilts sounds wonderfully soft and cozy.
I third that photo request!
Love the curtain "headboard" Nice! This will also help cover up windows that are not centered.
Like the heading states cheap headboards , the stretched tapestry looks good.
