When you're laying out your furniture and television setup, do you think primarily about entertaining guests, or is your main focus on creating your own cozy movie nook?
A friend invited a bunch of people over to watch the NFL kickoff game last Thursday at her place. The beer was cold, the chips were fresh and the tacos were delicious—our only complaint was the TV.
She's actually got a great setup: A 37" flat-screen plasma TV with surround sound would be a great spot to catch the game. We're not snobs about stuff like that.
The problem was that the TV was perched inside and towards the back of a three-sided nook in her TV armoire. You practically had to sit right in front of the TV (which was facing a wall maybe 10 feet back, we're talking tight limited space!) to even have a peek at the action.
Our friend said her setup is perfect for her Netflix nights and admitted that NFL parties were the last thing on her mind when she planned out the room layout.
If you're the non-couch potato type that only turns on the tube to deliberately watch a movie or program, you might be thinking about entertaining guests with your room layout. On the other hand if you're always chilled out in front of the set like our friend, creating a home theater atmosphere might be the last thing on your mind.
How is your home theater setup? Do you plan for entertaining friends? Or do you keep a cozy nook and switch it up just for premiere-watching parties? Let us know in the comments!
