Q: I inherited these vintage patio aluminum chairs from a family friend and wanted to know more about them. I know they were bought in 1959. They look very rare and unique. More information is highly appreciated.

Those are beauties. You are bringing back memories of when Americans made beautiful things of quality worth handing down. But I can't remember anything specific about them. Sorry.
Uh, maybe I'm missing something, but these appear to just be a variation on the classic ubquitous metal folding chair.
I think my Grandmother had some like these. Very cute! :)
I think they're awesome!
They look like they had an aluminum table to go with them..like a patio card table set..?
They remind me of grandparents... are we sure that they are rare and unique?
They are adorable. But I would agree, probably not "rare" or "unique". They appear to be what is called "mill finish aluminum" - the same kind of finish you see on a lot of vintage screen doors. My sense is that in the 1950s, there were a lot of local companies fabricating using this material -- they were feeding the huge housing boom. I'd say, some local company made these and marketed them locally, maybe as part of a larger enterprise. Very sweet.
