I had the pleasure of traveling to a few of Morocco's seaside villages and walled cities in 2003. It was the first time I had been out of the country and it was an inspiring celebration of the senses. I bought a few small items along the way that I could easily tuck into my bags.
I thought I was being practical about buying housewares (an obsession since high school) until I spotted an 18 piece set of white ceramic dinnerware. I bought the set and committed to lugging it with me on my two month journey. If I had had the mind to ship things I may have indulged in some of the beautiful pieces you see here.
Morocco was once colonized by the French, the Spanish and the Portuguese and takes inspiration from all three cultures. I am most inspired by the ornate French Moroccan interiors as seen in the first image but also love the simplicity of the second image. These Moroccan rooms boast beautiful pattern, intricately detailed wood and ironwork and lush textiles.
