Moss, a staple for design lovers, is closing its shop in SoHo on February 17. Unlike the tax snafu in 2010, this time it's for good. Owners say a combination of high overhead and low sales mean they're running a "free museum." A smaller retail location and a consultancy business are in the works.

High overhead coupled with low sales is never a winning combination.
When they first opened, I went all the time and bought interesting, expensive but affordable things. In recent years they have developed a particular, very expensive - and peculiar - aesthetic. Maybe that is why sales are low, despite all the design media aclaim. I don't even bother going in.
