Is it the world's largest highchair or the most obvious invention, ever? The Mother/Child dining table brings mother (or father or special guest or imaginary friend) and child together for meals by combining the functionality of a highchair and the intimate nature of dinner at a cozy table.
Produced by Studio Maartje Steenkamp, who also created the Highchair, the Mother/Child table is made from MDF and comes in glossy white.

I would have to say this is rather interesting..... It is a beautiful piece of furniture, but I don't know if it would be practical for everyday use.
Ouch. Those are some sharp corners right at toddler eye level.
It's lovely as a work of art, but what do you do with it when the child grows too old for that seat?
we're a family of 4, and eat most meals together -- this implies the baby eats by him- or herself, apart from the family. Beautiful, but not very socially-inclusive or practical.
It's interesting but I don't think it's very useful. It also looks dangerous with all those hard edges.
Umm... what about left handed people?
that's what I was thinking, jubjulia. Nothing ever works for us. Brings me back to elementary school with those little desks with the arm piece for the righties. And yeah, there was a left handed chair, but it always had three legs and was either waaay to big or waaay to small and the 5 of us lefties had to fight over it. I'm not a fighter....so that's why I "write like that" with my arm all twisted.

The piece is cute as art, but not practical whatsoever. Good design CAN be practical.
Oooo, Jubgulia, good point! My son is a leftie so I'm always bummed when things that are out there don't "work" for him. As a rightie, there are so many things I take for granted. Just the other day we were working on a craft and he said the scissors weren't good for him and he was right. We went to the store and bought left-handed scissors.
Kav122 - I think all good design should be practical, right? Too bad most of the time, that's not the case.
