Summer and Josh's Pumped Up Traditional may have started this trend several years ago. And we've looked at framing wallpaper as artwork, but for big impact like Summer and Josh's, cover a large area of a wall and frame it with trim moulding. Here are some examples:
The result becomes somewhat architectural in nature, with inset panels of wallpaper as part of a wall instead of artwork hanging on a wall.

Looks lovely but not for me. I'd get sick of this after awhile and having to remove this later on would be a deterrent.
You could likely try this as a non-permanent idea by simply using a large picture/poster frame and applying the wallpaper to the frame insert.
The first sofa looks amazing....any idea anyone?
The first one looks the best. @ number6_ed, that's a great idea which reuqires less commitment. I love wallpaper, but the thought of the work involved to take it down has been a deterrent for me in the past. Good idea for an accent wall without needing to cover or paint the whole thing. I'm giving it serious consideration....
Currently doing this to create a headboard... after adding moulding to 2 internal doors and liking the look of it.
Been planning to do this for while, but on plywood nailed to the wall so I can take it with me when I move/don't have to take it down (renter). Looking to use Cole and Sons Hummingbirds!
I really like the wallpaper in the first photo -- does anyone know where I can buy it or who makes it?
Thank you Apartment Therapy! I saw the third picture on line a while ago and have been searcing for other examples. I plan to do this behind my couch with temporary wall paper.
i LOVE this post! i think it's a great idea and adds that extra interest + depth to a wall (vs. flat wallpaper). the moulding in the third image is amazing. can't wait to try this out.
Every one of these photos is highly stylized. You'd have to really nail this look for it to work in an actual real life home.
In the yellow wallpaper photo, it creates a piece of art, as oppose to, a decorating element.
I really love the first photo in this set. What a great way to add some interest without paint!
I can't paint in my apartment so I've been considering this...the only drawback is that I have spanish plaster walls. Suggestsions?
Anyone know where the sofa is from in the 1st picture?
i'm loving the yellow photo.
Another source request for the first sofa...
@ m3linda --> it is Cole and Sons Cow Parsley - a favourite of mine.
