Q: We live in Canada in a house built in the 1930's with a mutual/shared driveway running to a garage structure in our backyard. We own the right side of the garage. We would like to have some privacy from our neighbors and enclosure of our backyard space. We do not wish to put up a fixed fence, as it could legally be challenged as limiting access to the garage, although modern cars would not fit between the houses. As a result, we need something that could be moved if needed (with some notice).
The basic requirement would be for a movable fence, 12-14 feet long, running perpendicular to our garage in the centre of the two garage doors. Simply building fence panels would be easy, but not very stylish. Our design challenge is to develop something that is more attractive, sturdy (so it does not blow over) and as a bonus, fun for two young girls (ages 6 and 3). Some thoughts we had would be sections painted with blackboard paint for chalk drawing, or incorporating some planter box space for a children's garden, but we are open to creative ideas. We would really appreciate some help with this outdoor design challenge!
