Sometimes the simplest means have the most beautiful outcome. Take, for instance, these chairs that exploit rolled-up felt to the utmost:
The Muchas Rosas chair by Ricrea actually does look like bunches and bunches of flowers. The dense white blossoms are really pretty and might actually feel good to sit on, but I do have to wonder about cleaning!

It looks like toilet paper.
Meh.
I really love the texture, but not as a chair. I'd love to see it as a throw pillow or a wall hanging or (in a darker color) as a rug. As a chair, it looks lumpy and uninviting.
And I agree with you about cleaning, Regina: the first thing I thought was "Yikes, that would get crumby so fast!"

And I can imagine how it would look after my cats sat on it a few times. It's a cool concept, but not practical.
Ick
@ elsa
check out the west elm deconstructed rose pillow cover!
Looks like a Home Ec project.
No. That's just trying too hard. It looks like something from Trading Spaces - maybe an Ikea Tulsta chair with toilet paper flowers hot-glued on it.
Reminds me of those sprayed gold, macaroni covered cans I made for Mom in grade school
Just.... no.
Love it!
@Dulcibella-
You're right about it looking like a Trading Spaces project...by HILDI!
I think it's kind of cool. In a charcoal tweed and in my pet-free, kid-free home it would probably stay reasonably clean.
You'd just have to look at it as sculpture, and never use it...
Eh, no thanks. mjs7640: you're right on the money!
Or perhaps a home 'ick' project?
When I saw this, I immediately imagined someone making an "Ikea hack" out of this with one of their chairs and old, rolled-up sweat socks. Haha
yikes!
