Yea!!! Muji for us on the Left Coast!!!
This is good news
Yay MUJI! I'm tired of having their stuff shipped out to me. Now I will be able to just walk over there on my lunch break.
This might get me to visit SF.
Every Muji object I have purchased has been useful, well designed, and sturdy. I love their products.
I could see this working by union square, but they're putting it next to a huge freeway intersection in a relatively industrial area near a strip mall blocks far from the nearest muni or bart line? This is madness! The eq3 that was there went out of business due to lack of traffic, and I can see this unfortunately happening here, too. I love muji but this is poor planning on their part.
I like Muji, but that's kind of a nutball location. If you're on mass transit, like me, you'll be waiting however long for a Muni bus to crawl down there. Too bad they're not locating in the Mission or somewhere near Market Street.
The one plus to that location is it's near Bed Bath and Beyond and Pier One, so if someone's into all those stores, they can hit all of them in one swoop.
They will get all the Trader Joe, Nordstrom Rack, and BB&B traffic. That Pier One -- I don't know how they stay in biz. There are folks who get to TJ via the bus system ok, why not Muji then?
It's Muji. I don't think they'll be hurting or needing ways to draw folks. Also, it's fairly close to Room & Board and right next door to Arkitektura -- both businesses that draw design aficionados. It's very close to the interior design/decorator area.
Sorry, but I think Muji will have much more success than EQ3.
