Wall murals aren't usually on my home decor radar. I love wallpaper, I've liked a few decals, but that's about it. I've been surprised lately, then, to come across a few murals that actually look pretty stylish.
Usually when I think of indoor murals, I think of kids' room or (for some reason) faux columns and grapevines. The three murals here, however, all add a bit of unexpected style and artfulness. I'm not ready to commit yet — and may never be — but now I can see the appeal.
- A traditional pastoral scene looks laid-back and hip in fashion designer Alexandre Herchcovitch's apartment.
- This mural is from the 1970s, and looks it, but it shows that whimsy can go a long way towards making a mural work.
- A detailed, gorgeously-hued world map looks chic in a room designed by Dufner Heighes.

That same map is in the lobby where I work, and people love to look at it.
Thank you for revealing that murals aren't always what people think!!!
