Q: I am a musician who primarily works from home. I've recently moved into a small apartment with a perfect alcove space for a small music studio. The problem is there is no wall or door to close off the office when work is done. How can I create a workspace that doesn't feel like one and fits into my comfortable, homey decor?

iDivide Designer Walls are a unique and dynamic alternative to standard office divider partitions and for home use room dividers to separate spaces. The flexible modular design enables the creation of a variety of configurations to suit any function.
They are elegant, translucent and are easy to install and to take down.
I hear you Sara! I had the same problem, and the best advice I can give you is don't treat it like a studio! Instead of using regular studio soundproofing, try to make your own using a favorite fabric. Add plants, and things that make you smile or get your creative juices flowing. Don't buy "obvious office furniture". I split my tiny living room into half, with my television acting as the divider. I also made sure to put the studio equipment against a wall so I can't see my office space from the living room couch. If you're using an alcove space, you can always get some fabric blinds or a nice divider to cover up the space when you're not working.
If you are doing serious studio work there, it WILL look like a workplace - at least most of the time. I use coat hooks for hanging cables on the back of the door and those Ikea HELMER storage containers are useful for storing microphones etc.. But that's it - there are lovely pictures and beautiful rugs at IKEA. Behind my desk, I have a huge IKEA picture ( http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20114901/) of the Flatiron building - this really makes the room my favorite place.
And how about usin some colour on the walls?
