The MVix Wireless HD Media Player gives you access to all of the media in your home, when and where you want it. Sure, this sounds like the Apple TV, but it offers a competitive alternative.
Not only is the MVix an external hard drive enclosure (you'll have to provide your own), but it also allows you to stream media to your television or a monitor. It's a movie player, music system, and internet radio all rolled into one.
Don't have an HDTV? Don't worry, you'll still be able to connect to the Mvix, as its got just about any video connector that you could need. Got a monitor instead of a TV? You'll be able to connect using DVI. Are you a holdout with an old tube tv? You can still use this device with RCA cables. All-in-all, this is pretty flexible streaming media system.
Available at ThinkGeek for $299.

The 780HD does not have a DVI output. DVI was replaced by HDMI .
I own this unit. It works great. I don't own an HDTV yet, but the picture quality through the S-Video is impressive. It handles so many file formats - including ISO, it functions as if were playing the DVD with menus etc.
It has very good sound quality. I can play XVID files and DVDs with AC3 through the Optical output.
A couple of downers are that it doesn't support FLAC or mkv. It does come with NDAS, so I can transfer files to the unit via the wired or wireless network.
The remote is full featured and very easy to use. It even has a button to bookmark favorite files, folders and internet radio stations.
I put a 500GB SATA drive in, but probably will put a smaller one in because it streams so well. I rarely transfer files to it.
Thanks for mentioning this fine product on your page.
