I realized, as I was taking the photos for this post, that many of my favorite things consist of items that, for the most part, resemble human body parts or have a vaguely punk sensibility. I guess my blue hair is showing; adolescent experiences die hard. More, after the jump...

A mold of my mouth made the day my braces were taken off (after 5 long years!). Why the teeth were painted orange I'll never know.

Child's wooden shoe molds. These are first things I ever bought at the Pasadena Rose Bowl. After that, I was hooked.

I bought this glove mold at Fish's Eddy in NY during last year's ICFF. I had just met a lot of the bloggers from the other sites for the first time and we all went shopping together. It was a crazy fun rainy afternoon with all of us scurrying around different stores sharing our finds and learning each other's sensibility

I love skulls of all kinds. This one's from the 99 Cents Store, two Halloweens ago. I love the 99c Store: great finds, great price and the perfect opportunity to pay it forward.

This is the artist Cecily Brown's mouth, painted after she chipped a tooth. I ripped it out of Vogue Magazine and had it blown up at Icon.

Okay, not everything I love resembles a human body part. I got this chest on Craig's List and had my body shop guy paint it with white automotive paint. It's my landing strip.

The chandelier in my dining room. I love it. Although I have to confess that I've been thinking about switching it out for a ginormous black industrial hanging light from CB2, in which case I may move it to the bedroom.

Eileen Gray tables. These have been a favorite for ages and I finally splurged when I redid my bedroom. One day, in a different home, they'll graduate to the living room. I love that they're adjustable and that they swing over the bed.

There's something about a hot pink chair.

The Louis Ghost Chair: I know, I know, it's been done but I'm still a fan

Old movies and a visit to Teddy Roosevelt's home on Long Island as a kid left their imprint on me; I've always wanted a zebra skin rug. This one, a zebra print stenciled cowhide rug. is my concession to that nagging want.
For the rest of my home, see here; for Laure's favorite part of my home, click here; for her favorite things from her apartment, click here. Rebecca and Beth have also shared their home's favorite things.

I love your purple chair, white credenza, upholstered bed, zebra rug and Eileen Grey tables too...
...as well as the white furry pillow and the leather reading book-tote to your bed and the black-painted trim in your dining room.
love the black and white with small shots pink and cream. Classic combination that is never boring. Also, i really want a mold of my teeth!
I'm so relieved- I thought I was the only one who kept their tooth mold...
Very cool stuff- I'm right there with you on the gothic theme!

Can you tell me where you got the chandelier? It's lovely...
I'm trying to figure out whether or not to get one, and which kind if I do. I would need to find one second-hand, via Craig's List, ebay or thrift stores.
This is also probably a dumb question, but: do chandeliers have to be mounted in the ceiling? I have zero overhead lighting in my living room, but I imagine it's probably out of my price range to have a contractor rip up the ceiling and rewire... if there's a way to mount a chandelier without wiring the ceiling, I'd love to know it.

You could take an existing chandelier and remove the ceiling plate and chain - add on a 15' length of decorative chain, clear/gold electrical wire and a plug and hang it as a swag lamp from a hook that's securely attached into the ceiling (preferably screwed into a joist)

Love it, thanks for sharing abby (and for inviting me over).
Oh my, that Cecily Brown painting is terrifying. But in general, great stuff!
I love the Cecily Brown image. I am also in the middle of looking at art I'm just gonna "steal" and blow up into frames.
Why not.
Love it. I'm all grown up, but never left my punk and goth childhood behind. It just shows up in my home instead of my hair now :)
I too would love to know where you purchased that chandelier - its gorgeous.
Thanks all!
4ddh, jplee,
I got the chandelier at greatchandeliers.com.
Here's the post that rounds up some of this & some of their other offerings as well (the chandelier in my bathroom's from there as well)

Like everyone else, I think the chandelier is great, but I LOVE the pink chair and the zebra-print rug.
Does anyone have a recommendation for affordable (really, really affordable) re-upholstery in the LA area? Thanks!
