Design: The Litter Trunk
Price: about $95 for the box plus paint

Name: Katherine & Mitchell
Location: Manhattan, Gramercy
Pet's Name: Tootsie, but she is better known simply as Kitty
Size & Type: small kitty

Pitch:

"The layout and lack of closet space in our apartment made hiding the litterbox impossible. We searched everywhere and finally found Wood Works by Dave on ebay. He builds nice, solid wood trunks with an entrance cut wherever you want. The trunk comes unfinished so our creative contribution was to simply paint the thing..." [more below]

I think it turned out well, and I especially like how the inside is the gold base color, perfect for the kitty queen. With the entrance cut to face the fireplace, no one ever suspects what's in there. And because the trunk is larger than the litterbox, most of the littler stays inside. I don't know what we'd do without this.

I'm also attaching a picture of a wonderful placemat we picked up in Paris. It's by Donald Davies and is treated with a sort of laminated coating so that you can easily wipe or rinse it off. It's perfect for pets, and I'd guess kids too.

Finally (sorry! I'm relying on your editorial discretion!) I'm attaching a few pics of Kitty utilizing one of her favorite designs in the house. These lucite chairs provide hours of enjoyment. Once she gets going, she'll dig away for ages. Maybe it's her own reflection that keeps her interested…who knows.

7. Extra: If I had all the money in the world I would love to have a townhouse with all the rooms opening onto a courtyard in the middle with lots of trees, plants, and critters for Kitty (and us) to enjoy.
