Design: Polka (Dot) Perch Price: around $15 for fabric, wood and hardware Name: Psymonetta Location: Portland, OR Pet's Name: Mervin "Merv" Q. Boschmunster Size & Type: 12lb Persian cat of the very wooly variety Pitch: "My cat, Merv, loves to lounge near windows. But, since he's a Persian, those ready-made wooly window perches mat his wooly fur. Plus, they're ugly. Here's our homebrew version of the kitty perch constructed from a frame of 2x2s, upholstered with baby-blanket batting and a heavy cotton twill. We used a wood frame instead of a flat platform so the perch would have the hammock like slump that cats prefer. We attached the perch to the wall with shelf brackets. The bonus is that the cotton twill is a lot easier to clean than carpet or fleece." [more after jump]

Pet design you covet most or would buy for your pet if you had all the money in the world: "Merv really adores cardboard. So, I'd love to be able to get him a cat cacoon...and his own bathtub, so he'll stop thinking ours is just a giant litterbox."
