The Look of Bali: Teak, Linen & Blue Sea

Dream Escape

It's an understatement to say this year has been busy — new house, new dog, new photo business, and a day job. Every day overflows with responsibility. I didn't have to think very long about my dream escape. I want stillness, space, and warmth. I imagine the faraway island of Bali to have exhilarating views of sparkling blue and green. My dream escape villa has soaring ceilings with windows overlooking a sundeck facing the sea. I imagine a fairly large space sparsely decorated with a few essential items. First on that list is a large, luxurious bed with ultra soft white cotton linens like the Savasana Tufted Bed pictured here.

I would want one large chest to store clothes, although I would pack light and wouldn't need all of the space. This antique elmwood dresser with petite brass hardware is unfussy and beautiful. A pair of occasional tables would flank each side of the bed and hold one simple antique brass lamp. No alarm clock in this room. I want to sleep until I am rested and wake up naturally to the morning light.

I would also include some lounging furniture like this teak bench. And of course, I would need a small beach bag to carry books, water and a yoga mat.
