My favorite children's book and why I love it:
It's so hard to choose! As a small child I have vivid memories of my mom reading The Adventures of Asterix
to me in French. I always loved that chubby little Gaul and his sidekick Oberix. Once I became a reader myself I loved C.S. Lewis' The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe
and read it over and over again. But, I can't forget my most favorite literary friend, Nancy Drew, who always had a good mystery for us to solve together.
My child's favorite books:
Hunter's favorite book at the moment is Baby Animals
by Eric Carle as it makes animal sounds when you press the buttons and what one-year-old wouldn't love that? Some other favorites that attract him with interesting illustrations and bright colors are Alice in Wonderland
by Jennifer Adams and ABC
by Matthew Porter. At bedtime we love reading books that encourage dramatic gestures, plenty of kissing and silly voices like Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes
by Mem Fox and Otis
by Loren Long. And of course, there are always those times when we have to get our groove on in French with Viens Danser!
by Natacha de Brake and Emilie Philinot.
Illustrators I adore: Matthew Porter, Jeremy Holmes and Alison Oliver
If my life were turned into a children's book the title would be: It's a Smile World
More Laura: Laura and her husband Timothy launched the website Built By Kids last year to promote teaching DIY skills and celebrating the memories and satisfactions kids get from building and creating. Shortly after, they welcomed their son Hunter into the world.
