Hart + Sew My favorite children's book and why I love it: When I was little I loved Each Peach Pear Plum by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. It was like playing an I Spy game with all of my favorite story time characters and would always pull me into a fun imaginary world. More recently I fell in love with Extra Yarn by Mac Barnett. It combines my love of handmade with a little bit of the extraordinary, and is a book I wish I could read to my children for the first time over and over again. My children's favorite books: One of the books my four-year-old daughter loves is Petunia, Beware! by Roger Duvoisin. Petunia is a foolish goose who only wants what she doesn't have, and learns an important lesson when she wanders off to look for greener pastures. It has a repeating sentence throughout that my daughter loves to shout out in a funny voice. She also often requests I Can Fly by Ruth Krauss. My 20-month-old daughter is a master at handing you a book and then promptly turning around to wait expectedly for you to set her on your lap. This always happens when she spys Press Here by Herve Tullet. It is such a great interactive book for all ages.
Illustrators I adore: Mary Blair is my absolute favorite, but I also adore Jon Klassen and Richard Scarry. If my life were turned into a children's book the title would be: She Holds Their Fingers While They Twirl Thanks Stacy! More Stacy: Vintage kids' clothes, thrifting, sewing, crafts, adorable kids - Stacy's blog, Hart + Sew, checks off all these boxes and presents them in such an inviting, personal way. Stacy and her husband are also making over their (old) new home - just one more reason to visit. (Images: Stacy Hart)
